Complete Song List from New Moon

Before writing this post, I checked my similar post on the Twilight song list and realized that I listened to all the songs in the soundtrack before watching the movie. I don’t remember doing that, but it was exactly the same thing I did before watching New Moon. I even made soundtrack predictions on which scene each song will be used, but it seems I got everything wrong. Oh well.

Anyway, here is the complete song list from The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

1) Monsters (Hurricane Bells) – track 10 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella was driving on the way to school on her birthday, and while she’s taking the picture of her friends (Jessica, Mike, Eric and Angela).

2) The Violet Hour (Sea Wolf) – track 11 in the soundtrack

– This was played during Bella’s birthday party at the Cullens’ house until she had her paper cut.

3) Satellite Heart (Anya Maria) – track 6 in the soundtrack

– This was played while Bella and a visibly upset Edward were on the way home.

4) Roslyn (Bon Iver and St. Vincent) – track 8 in the soundtrack

– This was played while Bella was printing out her picture with Edward and sitting on a table with her friends on a sunny day, and Edward was at her room until they went for a walk in the forest.

5) Possibility (Lykke Li) – track 4 in the soundtrack

– This was played while Bella was sitting at her room, depressed, as the months passed by. It continued while Bella was writing bouncing emails to Alice, having nightmares and sitting at the Cullens cafeteria table by herself.

6) I Belong to You (Muse) – track 7 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella told Charlie that she was going out for a girl’s night out with Jessica.

7) Friends (Band of Skulls) – track 2 in the soundtrack

– This was played during Bella’s first Edward hallucination, when she approached the guys with a disapproving and incredulous Jessica looking at her.

8) All I Believe In (The Magic Numbers & Amadou & Mariam) – bonus track in the soundtrack

– This was played when Jacob started fixing the motorbikes and during the montage when Jacob and Bella were at his garage

9) Shooting the Moon (Ok Go) – track 12 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Jacob started wrestling with Quil and throughout the montage of Jacob fixing the bike with Bella.

10) The Meadow (Alexandre Desplat) – track 15 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella was at the meadow and she saw Laurent.

11) Done All Wrong (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) – track 9 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella was about to enter Emily’s house while Paul and Jacob were having their wolf scuffle. I guess the song about doing wrong is appropriate since Bella, the vampire girl, is now visiting the werewolves place.

12) Hearing Damage (Thom Yorke) – track 3 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Charlie and the rest of the townspeople were combing the forest hunting for the wolves, and Victoria attacked Harry Clearwater behind Charlie’s back. The song is still playing during the impressive scene of the werewolves chasing the ever-graceful (and ever-sneaky) Victoria until she jumps to the water.

13) Slow Life (Grizzly Bear) – track 13 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella was under water, unconscious. She was looking at her Edward hallucination until Jacob towed her from the water. The lyrics are very appropriate for Bella: “Even though you’re the only one I see / If you ask, I’ll cut you free…”

14) No Sound but the Wind (Editors) – track 14 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Edward and Bella were on the way home from the Cullens’ place after Bella asked for their vote on whether she should become a vampire. I thought it would be used when the Cullens were packing up to leave Forks because of the line, “We can never go home / We no longer have one…” but I suppose it also applies to Bella.

15) A White Demon Love Song (The Killers) – track 5 in the soundtrack

– This was played during the closing credits.

16) Meet Me at the Equinox (Death Cab for Cutie) – track 1 in the soundtrack

– I didn’t actually hear it, but I’m assuming they played this during the closing credits as well. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Predictions on the New Moon Soundtrack

I’ve recently been listening to the soundtrack of New Moon on YouTube since I’m pretty excited to see the movie in a few days. I’ve probably heard all the songs about 5-10 times only, and I thought it would be fun to make some predictions on which part in the movie they will be used. One disadvantage is that I haven’t read New Moon in more than a year, so I can’t remember all the parts. Anyway, here are some of my predictions:

1) Meet Me at the Equinox by Death Cab for Cutie

– During an Edward hallucination.

– Before Edward exposes his sparkly self.

– During the closing credits. I’m only guessing this because Decode was the first single to be released from the Twilight soundtrack, and it was featured during the closing credits.

2) Friends by Band of Skulls

– When Bella is with the Cullens before her disastrous birthday party

– When the werewolves are together

– When Bella is talking to the boys in town while she is with Jessica

3) Hearing Damage by Thom Yorke

– When Bella meets Laurent in the meadow

– When Jacob puts the phone down on who he thought was Carlisle

– When Bella and Alice are on the way to the Volturi

4) Possibility by Lykke Li

– During the parade of St Marcus (maybe on a slow motion shot of Bella running through the crowd)

– When Bella first realizes that Jacob is a werewolf

– When Edward, Bella and Alice are walking together on the way to the Volturi

5) A White Demon Love Song by The Killers

– When Bella is spending time with Jacob

– When Bella is pretending to be happy for Charlie’s sake

– When Alice visits Bella after the Cullens leave

6) Satellite Heart by Anya Maria

– After Edward leaves Bella at the forest and she’s curled up on the ground in tears

– While Bella is in school or in bed, depressed and missing Edward

– While Bella is standing on the cliff before she jumps

7) I Belong to You by Muse

– While Bella and Jacob are happily chatting or doing something fun together

– While Bella, Jacob and Mike are in the theater

– When Bella, Edward and Alice are on the way home from the Volturi

8) Roslyn by Bon Iver and St. Vincent

– When Bella jumps off the cliff (in slow motion maybe)

– When Bella opens her eyes and sees that it was Jacob who saves her from fall

– When Edward begins to open his shirt to expose his sparkly self

9) Done All Wrong by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

– When Bella sees hallucinations of Edward

– Whenever Bella or Jacob are on their bikes (maybe because the artist’s name has “Motorcycle” in it)

– While Bella is in school or in bed, depressed and missing Edward

10) Monsters by Hurricane Bells

– When Edward and Bella are on the way to the birthday party at the Cullens

– When Bella and Jacob are on their bikes

– When Bella and Alice are on the way to the Volturi

11) The Violet Hour by Sea Wolf

– When Bella and Jacob are on their bikes

– When Bella and Edward are finally together again in her bedroom

– During closing credits

12) Shooting the Moon by Ok Go

– When Bella is with the werewolves (well, mainly because there’s moon in the title)

– When Jacob leaves Bella while they are having an argument

– When Jacob is in Bella’s room trying to tell her what’s wrong with him without breaking the rule

13) Slow Life by Grizzly Bear

– During a slow motion of Bella jumping off the cliff

– During a slow motion shot of Bella running to stop Edward from showing off his sparkles

– During closing credits

14) No Sound but the Wind by Editors

– When the Cullens are packing up to leave Forks (“We can never go home / We no longer have one…”)

– When Jacob saves Bella after she jumps from a cliff

– When Edward and Bella are walking together towards the Volturi

15) The Meadow by Alexandre Desplat

– When Bella goes back to the meadow alone

– While Bella is in school or in bed, depressed and missing Edward

– When Bella sees an Edward hallucination

Since I made three guesses per song (or a total of 45 guesses), I’m hoping I get at least one correct. We’ll see on November 20.

Complete Song List from Twilight

This is the complete song list from the first Twilight movie. To read the song list for New Moon, please click here.

1) Full Moon (The Black Ghosts) – track 3 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella left Phoenix to live with Charlie at Forks, up until she got to her room. The lyrics were particularly appropriate, since the song talked about leaving. “And I don’t know where I’ll go / And I don’t know what I’ll see / But I’ll try not to bring it back home with me…”

2) Eyes on Fire (Blue Foundation) – track 9 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Bella was waiting for Edward at the parking lot so that she could confront him about his creepy behavior the day before. Not only was the title of the song great for the scene (which opened with a close up of Edward’s flashing black eyes), but the lyrics represented Edward’s initial struggle with wanting to kill Bella. “I’ll seek you out / Slay you alive / One more word and you won’t survive…” Creepy.

3) Tremble for My Beloved (Collective Soul) – track 7 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Edward saved Bella’s life by stopping Tyler’s truck that was about to crash into her. Again, the song they picked for this scene was very well-chosen. “The hour has begun / Your eyes have now opened / To a world where madness craves / To a world where hopes enslaved / Oh, I’ll tremble for my love always…” The hour has come for Bella to realize that there was something supernatural about Edward, and for Edward to realize that he was beginning to fall in love with a human.

4) I Caught Myself (Paramore) – track 8 in the soundtrack

– This was played while Jessica and Angela were trying on prom dresses at Port Angeles, with a disinterested Bella looking on. The lyrics didn’t really match the scene per se, but it reflected the mental and emotional climate of Bella at that time. “You got it, you got it / Some kind of magic / Hypnotic, hypnotic / You’re leaving me breathless…”

5) Never Think (Robert Pattinson) – track 10 in the soundtrack

– This was played during Edward and Bella’s conversation over dinner at Port Angeles, after he saved her life again from the men who were about to attack her. This is one of my favorite scenes because Edward was beginning to open up to Bella about who he is and how he feels. I also loved the fact that the song was composed and sung by Robert Pattinson (the actor playing the role of Edward Cullen) himself. “Girl save your soul / Go on save your soul / Before it’s too far gone / And before nothing can be done / Cause without me / You got it all…”

6) Spotlight – Twilight Mix (Mute Math) – track 5 in the soundtrack

– This was played during the scene where Edward and Bella came to school together for the first time. “The spotlight is on…”

7) La Traviata (The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) – included in the bonus tracks

– This was played when Bella first visited Edward’s house, while the Cullens were making dinner for her.

8) Clair de Lune (The APM Orchestra) – included in the bonus tracks

– This was played when Bella turned on the CD player at Edward’s room, and they danced for a while.

9) Bella’s Lullaby (Carter Burwell) – track 12 in the soundtrack

– This was played when Edward carried Bella to the top of the trees to show her the sights, and continued to the scene where he was playing the piano for her. I really like the fact that Robert Pattinson was really the one playing the piano in the scene. There’s another “fake” version of Bella’s Lullaby which is actually “River Flows in You” by Yiruma. I wonder why they didn’t go for that one.

10) Supermassive Black Hole (Muse) – track 1 in the soundtrack

– This was played during the baseball game at the field right until James, Victoria and Laurent came to spoil everything. The lyrics doesn’t exactly fit the scene, but the rhythm and the music  did.

11) Let Me Sign (Robert Pattinson) – included in the bonus tracks

– This was played when a pained Edward decided to suck the venom out of Bella’s wound himself, not knowing if he can find the will to stop, in order to save her from becoming a vampire like him. The song runs throughout Bella’s dream sequence during her near-death experience. This was a very haunting, painful song, and again, it’s by Robert Pattinson. I’m not exactly sure what the phrase “let me sign” means though. Let me sign in the petition to become a vampire?

12) Go All the Way [Into the Twilight] (Perry Farrell) – track 6 in the soundtrack

– This was played during the prom, when Edward led Bella to say hi to her old friends Jessica and Mike, and Angela and Eric. “Tonight / Lightning strikes / Let’s go into twilight!”

13) Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Iron & Wine) – track 11 in the soundtrack

– This was played during the prom, when Edward and Bella were dancing alone at a gazebo. She wanted to know why he didn’t let her become a vampire too, and couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t end her life. The song captures Edward’s dilemma – he wanted to have Bella with him for eternity, but he didn’t want to end her life as a human. “Have I found you / Flightless bird / Jealous, weeping / Or lost you / American mouth…” I don’t exactly get what the American mouth is about, but anyway it turns out that the song was Kristen Stewart’s suggestion.

14) 15 Step (Radiohead) – not included in the soundtrack

– This was the first song used for the credits, when Victoria was walking down the stairs after watching Edward and Bella dancing. I suppose the lyrics are appropriate for Victoria – “How come I end up where I started…”

15) Leave Out All the Rest (Linkin Park) – track 4 in the soundtrack

– This was the second song used for the credits. I’ve always liked Linkin Park, so I was glad that they have a song in the soundtrack. “When my time comes / Forget the wrong that I’ve done / Help me leave behind some / Reasons to be missed / Don’t resent me / And when you’re feeling empty / Keep me in your memory / Leave out all the rest…”

16) Decode (Paramore) – track 2 in the soundtrack

– This was the third song used for the credits, and is the first single released for Twilight. This is the song with the most appropriate lyrics for the story, since the composer actually wrote this about Edward and Bella. “But you think that I can’t see / What kind of man that you are / If you’re a man at all / Well, I will figure this one out / On my own (I’m screaming, ‘I love you so.’) / On my own (My thoughts you can’t decode)…”

Complete Song List from STEP UP

I really liked the movie “Step Up” and have been listening to the soundtrack nearly everyday on my way to and from the office. It’s a lot of fun to listen to, but I kept thinking I would prefer a CD containing all the songs from the movie in the order they were played. For some reason I never thought to check out the list of songs in the credits, but found a song list from IMDB.  I added some scene descriptions and did some minor corrections on the list.

Petey Pablo – Show Me The Money (included in the soundtrack)

This was played during the opening credits where they interposed scenes of dancers doing ballet and hip-hop to show how dancing has inherent similarities.

Clipse – Ain’t Cha (included in the soundtrack)

This was played during the opening party scene at Omar’s, when Skinny bugged Mac (who was making out with a strangely deep-voiced woman) to leave the party saying, “This party’s whack.”

T I – Get It

This was played in the scene you can call “Where Tyler’s At,” which was the first time we see Tyler dancing (and with PJ’s girlfriend too).

Dolla – Feelin’ Myself (included in the soundtrack)

This was the song Tyler listened to when he headed straight to his room (“I’m not hungry”) after getting 200 hours of community service.

Kathleen Crees – Violette

This was played while Tyler was on his balcony looking outside, after telling his foster sister Camille to get out of his room.

Jeanette Ortea et al – Maidens of the Grove

This was the song being sung by the three girls in the hallway of MSA, when Tyler first got there.

Nuttin but Stringz – Canon in D

This was the song played by the violinists in the hallway of MSA.

Black Sheep – The Choice Is Yours

This was played while Tyler was dancing in the parking lot in his “garbage man jumpsuit,” when he noticed Nora watching him from a window.

Mark Ronson – Little Dap

This was played when Tyler, Mac and skinny were playing basketball at the court.

Shilo Monaco – Shilo’s Piano

This was the song played by the student practicing on piano while Principal Gordon was looking on approvingly. According to the DVD commentary, this was really the composition of the guy playing the piano.

Ron Feemster Cleaning Song

This was played while Tyler was cleaning MSA and being a jerk about it.

Fatboy Slim and Macy Gray – Love Life

This was played when Nora was auditioning sophomores to be her temporary partner while Andrew was out injured, which was one of the funniest parts of the film. This should have been included in the soundtrack I think.

Chris N Drop – Crazy Strings

This was played while Nora rehearsed alone, waiting for Tyler.

C. Ride – Pushin’

This was played while Tyler and the boys were going to Omar’s, and found out that them “dudes froze out.”

Chris Brown – Say Goodbye (included in the soundtrack)

This was played while Lucy and Nora were talking in the cafe about Nora being so defensive and denying her feelings about Tyler.

Samantha Jade – Step Up (included in the soundtrack)

This was played during the montage of Nora and Tyler rehearsing. There were lots of funny scenes there. It was also used in the Step Up Dance Contest.

Josh Henderson – Philosophy

This was the song that Brett (Nora’s soon-to-be ex-boyfriend) was recording in the studio with Miles when Tyler came in late for his rehearsal with Nora. I wish this was included in the soundtrack so that we can hear the entire song.

Kwame B. Holland – Tonight

According to the website where I got this from, this was the new song Miles played for Nora, and was used during the group rehearsal (when Tyler found dancers to do back-up for Nora, so she could have it the way she imagined her routine to be). This is kind of weird though, because I think it was ‘Bout It. I’ll have to watch the movie again and check.

Gina Rene – U Must Be (included in the soundtrack)

This was played in that rooftop scene where Tyler and Nora danced. This has got to be one of my favorite scenes of all time.

Jamie Scott – Made (included in the soundtrack)

This was the song Lucy’s older, “sophisticated” boyfriend Colin performed in the club. I love this song. Interestingly enough, Colin’s real name Jamie Scott is also the name of the son of my favorite TV show couple (Nathan and Haley from One Tree Hill).

Sean Paul & Keyshia Cole – Give It Up to Me (included in the soundtrack)

This was the song played after Colin and his band took a break. He met Tyler and convinced Miles to play with them, while Nora arrived and headed to Tyler. Channing Tatum (who plays Tyler Gage) and Jenna Dewan (who plays Nora Clark) appeared in the music video and did a really cute dance sequence.

Drew Sidora featuring Mario – ‘Til the Dawn (included in the soundtrack)

This was the song Lucy performed in the club, when Nora asked Tyler to dance. He didn’t know it was a line dance, and fumbled through the steps at first, then ended up showing off his dance skills. My favorite scene in the entire movie!

Drew Sidora featuring Mario – For the Love (included in the soundtrack)

This was played while Lucy (played by Drew Sidora) and Miles (played by Mario) were talking after the performance. This was the song on the background when Tyler and Nora finally had their first kiss.

Kelis – ’80s Joint (included in the soundtrack)

This was played during Tyler and Camille’s dance-off while playing with a ball. FYI, Camille (played by Alyson Stoner) is actually the amazing kid dancing in the music videos of Eminem’s Lose It (ha-ha-ha-ha-ha) and Missy Elliot’s Work It.

Novel – Damn

This should have been included in the soundtrack! This was played during another montage of Tyler and Nora rehearsing and goofing around.

Anthony Hamilton – Dear Life (included in the soundtrack)

This was played after Tyler and Nora’s major fight, because Andrew came back and Tyler had to drop out of the showcase.

Pitbull – Toma

This was played during the party scene at Omar’s, when Mac said “All these girls and he [Tyler] don’t feel like dancing.”

Rhymefest – What Up!

This was also played during the party scene at Omar’s.

Ryan “Alias” Tedder – Attention Please

This was also played during the party scene at Omar’s.

Youngbloodz – Imma Shine (included in the soundtrack)

This was the song Miles played in Omar’s party, to which Nora did lyrical jazz (her favorite style of dancing according to her audio commentary) and Tyler did hip-hop. This was also the song playing when Skinny got shot.

Tchaikovsky – Swan Lake Waltz

This was the song the ballerina was dancing to during the showcase.

Young Joc – ‘Bout it [instrumental] (included in the soundtrack, but with vocals)

This was the song used during the showcase. What a way to end the movie!

Ciara – Get Up (included in the soundtrack)

This was played during the closing credits where they included submissions from the dance contest. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan also appeared in the music video wearing black leather.
